A network for excellent terahertz research in communication, localization, material characterization, environmental monitoring, and medical technology.
As part of the terahertz.NRW project, the Medical Technology Systems (SMT) department is working on robotic upper-body movement assistance for use in neurorehabilitation. The goal of this scientific research is the contactless recording of muscle movements in the forearm using THz technologies. Methods of signal processing and machine learning are being researched and developed. Subsequently, data-driven learning methods and suitable models will be used to predict finger movements and hand grips.
