We warmly congratulate Andreas Prokscha, doctoral student in the Digital Signal Processing Group at the University of Duisburg-Essen, on receiving first place in the “Best Poster Award” at the 11th NRW Nano Conference in Dortmund.
His poster, titled “Perspectives on Terahertz Honey Bee Sensing,” impressed the jury with its innovative approach to applying terahertz (THz) technology for the non-contact monitoring of honeybees. The research explores how THz methods can be used to analyze the material properties of bees and to develop non-invasive observation techniques using validated 3D-printed surrogate models.
The award-winning work was carried out in collaboration with Prof. Nils Weimann’s, Prof. Jan Balzer’s and Prof. Daniel Erni’s groups and the terahertz.nrw network.
