Women in THz, part of Terahertz.NRW, is a network dedicated to connecting and supporting female scientists in terahertz technology. Through mentoring, workshops, lectures, and networking, it fosters collaboration, innovation, and visibility for women at all career stages.

Career goals are as individual as the people who pursue them. With mentoring, you can sharpen your career goals and plan your next career steps – regardless of what “making a career” or “being successful” means to you.
The terahertz.NRW network awards up to 5 funding places for mentoring to young scientists in any discipline. Secure your funding place now!

- Support and guidance: Mentors offer valuable advice and help with career planning.
- Networking opportunities: External mentoring gives you access to a wider professional network.
- Professional development: Mentors can impart specific knowledge and skills – in addition to specialist knowledge about your own field of research, they can also impart specialist careers, e.g. in project management or know-how relating to management careers.
- Access to resources: Mentors can use their experience, network and wider industry knowledge to point you towards relevant resources and further funding opportunities.
- Boost self-confidence: Support can increase self-confidence and motivation.
- Feedback and reflection: Constructive feedback helps to improve skills and projects.a
The scholarship involves the payment of participation fees for mentoring and associated offers by the MentorMe network. The matching is carried out by MentorMe. The mentoring period runs from October to September of the following year.
- As a scholarship holder, you are a member of the “women in THz” network for the duration of the scholarship
- You are an enrolled student in a master’s or doctoral program or are employed as a post-doc
- Your research activities, regardless of discipline, are in the context of terahertz research
- You send us your expression of interest by July 31
If there are more expressions of interest than funding places, the decision is made by drawing lots.
“Scientist” includes all persons who identify as women or non-binary, regardless of their registered gender.
